However *I* don't think Speaking Japanese is gonna be the first release. The other night they played a new song (which can be heard here on the forum) that COULD POSSIBLY be SJ... But I don't see a relation between that title and the song's lyrics... |

Well that's true, i kinda like knowing an awesome band with music that i love for myself, doesn't have to be famous throughout the world for me to still like it . Feels a little awkward though, when people ask what music i like and I say Shiny Toy Guns and they're all like:....hmm..right, ok..., never heard of them. But then again, people won't judge me for my music taste since they dont even know them |

Hey now, The Sun still gives the awesome vibe, does it not? And it wasn't a rumor. STG told us about Speaking Japanese...they've just given the song a new title. Personally, I prefer The Sun to Speaking Japanese. As for some super optimism: maybe there's another song that'll be called Speaking Japanese. |

Oh yeah, I'm totally pumped for any new song, I was just more pumped for a title like Speaking Japanese. Did they really rename it? I guess that's possible, because in the acoustic leak, Carah's verse talks about dragons and foreign language. I think The Sun is too basic, and Speaking Japanese sounds cooler, but that's just me. It will be awesome regardless of the title.
And now I'm thinking The Sun was chosen because they want to really go mainstream this time around and get new fans? It would attract new people, whereas if you came across a title Speaking Japanese on, let's say, Youtube, you would probably think it really is in japanese and avoid it. I dunno.. lol

No, I think that last year The Sun was Speaking Japanese. They hyped it up on Facebook commenting to people that Speaking Japanese was coming, then near the countdown they release that verse of The Sun (only we didn't know it was called The Sun, until they more recently announced the new title and then we heard the acoustic leak to confirm it). I think we all assumed that the verse was from Speaking Japanese because of the Japanese imagery. However, I'm thinking maybe we weren't wrong. Plenty of artists change song titles from the time they're written to the time they're fully finished. I agree, The Sun sounds more mainstream ready than Speaking Japanese. It's in the chorus; it's easy to remember. How many times have you said to someone, "hey, you know that song that goes like this?" and then you sing the chorus in hopes that they can identify it for you? I mean, we know that Money For That was once called 1994; again, MFT is a lyric from the chorus. It's a possibility.
Of course, this is all based on my assumption that Speaking Japanese morphed into The Sun. Like I said before, Speaking Japanese could turn out to be a different song. I don't know for sure. I just like theories. Wrong, wrong, wrong. Sometimes I get too carried away with my thoughts. |
