So on Season of Poison, two of my favorite tracks are Poison and Blown Away.
Now, my all time favorite is Ricochet.. But that's above all.
So, what does every truly think these two amazing songs are about? Dissect them a bit.. Examine them in full.
The reason I'm not really giving my opinion them is because I'm trying to study what other people think of these songs... It has to do with a project I'll be working on. So feed me your thoughts, my loves.

i do love the part in blown away that says "with your heart boarded up, nailed with my mistakes". such a literal explanation of what happens when someone that you love hurts you, it makes you more guarded with your love and it is the fault of that other person. fantastic wording. chad said he wrote that while he was in europe and feeling really disconnected from everything at home.

Yes, but I want to know everyone's own personal interpretations of these songs. Some times a person sees or hears things differently from the artist.

Well, If STG/Jermey had never given an explaination....
Poison, I would have thought is was about someone being an alcoholic. Someone who drinks themsleves' to death.
For Blown Away, I would think that it was just about someone who was worried about hurting people and holding grudges.

If I hadn't been influenced by what the band said...
I would have imagined Poison would have been about a murder, from the murderers perspective as he kills and then kills himself. I'll analyze the lyrics, here:
I'm going to meet you (The thought in his head, constantly cycling as the poison takes hold)
Voices A child in sound Fades away For silence has spoken Who sighs for you and me (This is mentioning the voices he hears in his head, telling him to kill or be tormented by them forever. And he lives in silence now, having killed and sent the voices away)
Mother I'm now the same as you 'til the end of someone's world And the cradle Says goodbye to yesterday (Remembering how he was once good and loving, but now he is tainted and lost. Gone too far to return to innocence)
Painfully I prepare a release And poison takes me away Poison takes me away (He hates himself, so it's time to go)
Listen Don't cry my child When you awake My father's table Has set a place for you (As if remembering how he was trying to console the victim, reminding them that heaven awaits and a spot with God's side. Essentially, trying to excuse himself)
Contact With fire from love Has shortened all my days A season of Poison Will bring the darkness soon (The victim was someone he loved, and the pain of being their killer is what has driven him to the end)
On angels wings You learn to fly One angels wings You learn to fly (Telling himself, and the victim, that they are good and will have the good after life. Reminding himself, he won't)
I... with the flowers... with the flowers (As if the victim was trying to speak)
From this world you left below I'm going to meet you I've come to take you home (Talking to the now dead victim, telling them he is going to die and be with them)
Yeah, that's what I had imagined before they came out with their explanation. This song had so many roiling, blackened feelings in it, I felt like I was being suffocated by coal powder... it was amazing.

Wow. Alli's interpretation is the best. Hate to admit it.
To me, (and I am horrible at finding meaning in things) it took me a while to think and figure out that Poison was suicide. I was actually swinging with my best friend when I realized it was suicide. So I guess just suicide and hating yourself is Poison.
Blown Away was always feeling sad and disconnected. And knowing that you have dissapointed people in your life.

interesting interpretation, alli. really dark but it totally fits.
blown away, to me, is all about changing without meaning to, possibly from an addiction. that's what i get from "losing myself again". "you swore you'd be around this time"- and the person they love promised to be there for them always but can't deal with another relapse. . "when revelation calls and everything is blown away"- is when all the pieces come together and the other person finds out about what he is trying to hide. it destroys all the trust that had built up and taints the memories of all their time together. "sheltered days, everybody wants more"- wishing you could go back to not knowing and also what i said about it earlier...

I've always thought Poison was about being connected to something that's gone now and doing everything in your ability to get away from it, even if the action you take is a poor choice.
As for Blown Away, I imagine it's about two people who are together, but end up always hurting one another. Nothing else matters because they're not meant to be, so they need to end it.
Hmm, I think I shall go check out the actual meanings. Where might I find these meanings (somewhere other than their website, I hope)?

I remember specially asking what Poison meant, and the response I got was that it is about death, specifically the death of a child. That's all they said.

well. Poison just makes me think of some form of self-harm/mutilation.
and actually, it reminds me of a saying that goes "Would the child you were like the adult you've become?"
so basically the song makes me think of a person who is at the lowest point in their life and are doing something that could kill them just to make themselves feel. all the while knowing how f*cked up they're making their life, wishing they could go back to being a child. or go back to their childhood. and fix something.
*cough*
yeaahhh...
