While looking around online I think I found the article that you were referring to, which is good because this supports Alli's info in another thread about an upcoming EP.

I really liked this part:

Just don't expect the versions to be true to their originals--particularly "Tyrone," says Shiny Toy Guns bassist/keyboardist Jeremy Dawson. "We Shiny Toy Guns-ied it," he says with a laugh. "Now it sounds like the soundtrack to Lord of The Rings, when all the beasts are coming. We took everything about it to the Shiny Toy Guns level."
This is so very true. I didn't like the Cannabinoids music at all, but then STG took them over and it transformed into something I could handle listening to.

And for those who want some more proof of all things Shiny we have to look forward to!!!

Though currently flying to a few gig a week and spending its down time in the studio preparing two upcoming digital EP releases as well as a remix album, Dawson says his band really enjoyed the idea of the concept for tonight's event.
So, yeah I see what you mean. Two digital EPs AND the remix CD coming up. It's the first I've heard of two EPs; I was pretty pumped when it was just one. I think we're all going to be quite happy soon. Cheesy

Oooh, good job on the setlist.  That's it I think.

Somehow I was confused enough to not realize that one of the Shinys' take over songs wasn't a full song and was actually the song the Cannabinoids had just played.  I'm not sure whether it really was Tyrone or if it was On and On but it had a big drum break before the outro (I remember Chad playing percussion on it I think) and I was sort of hoping it was a new song because I really liked it.  Too bad no one's youtubed it.  It was so different from the original that maybe it still could be.

How much did you pay for parking?  I parked a 10 minute walk away for free but maybe not in the safest location...downtown Dallas on a friday night has its dark corners.

Thanks. I was going to add the points and winners of each round, but then I wasn't sure how much of it I remembered and didn't want to mess it up. Yeah, they brought out the extra drums for Tyrone and Chad played them. It was good; this guy I met and I kept saying that the take-over songs should be theirs too because they sounded so good.

I wish I could have taken some video. I had plenty of memory except the camera guys kept getting in the way. They moved around enough to take some good pictures, but they would've ruined any video as they liked to just stand there in the way. They made me angry.

I parked in lot "C" between High Market St. and Museum Way. It was $10 and the least expensive lot. It was only a block and a half away from American Airlines Center. I have no idea if it was safe though. That was my biggest concern since I'm new to Texas, I don't know where the bad parts are in the cities. Plus, I figured it would be better to pick somewhere I know I could find again and not end up with a parking ticket.

I'm sure they'll show up near you sometime soon! I think I had been waiting for like 4 years to see them...so it was totally worth it when I was finally near to see a show. Smiley

The only recording I've seen of the Shinys doing one of their two Badu song takeovers.  It's really distant but you can get an idea of what they were going for.  In this case, they take over "On and On" towards the end of the vid.
